Week 1

Introduction to the AI Act - Part 1, understanding the regulation

Provisions, scope and applicability, key definitions, risk classification of AI-systems, requirements, conformity & governance. During the following weeks important key aspects of the regulation will be handled through practical exercises.

Week 2

Introduction to the AI Act - Part 2, practical applicability

Implementing the AI Act from the perspective of different roles and use cases: from provider to deployer. Challenges and best practices in AI development and procurement of AI third party systems. Third party vendor assessments.

Week 3

Implementing Trustworthy AI in practice

Understanding important concepts and learning ways for their practical implementation: AI governance from organisation to model , AI security and safety, bias identification and non-discrimination, AI ethics & fundamental rights, impact assessments and the role of European harmonized standards.

Week 4

AI Risk Management

Identification and mitigation of AI risks: health, safety and fundamental rights. Implementation of an AI risk management system. AI risk management from the EU standards perspective. Challenges integrating AI risk management at organizacional level. Practical exercise using the PLOT4ai methodology for identification of AI risks.

Week 5

Privacy and data protection in AI systems

Compliance challenges and best practices implementing privacy during the developement life cycle of AI. Requirements for third party AI systems. Challenges with GenAI: best practices and official guidance.

Week 6

Capstone presentation

Group assignment presentation. During the previous 5 weeks, participants will be working in groups on a specific use case and present their results during this last week. It will also be a moment for reflection about the previous weeks.

Extra information

  • The classes will be every week live online and will be recorded for the ones that miss a class.
  • There will be enough time to ask questions in the class and in the training platform.
